Project Loneliness

In this fast-paced consumerist society, humans are blinded by instant rewards in our daily convenience- based lifestyle routines.

This makes meaningful physical human connection no longer a priority.

This project aims to utilize the waiting time at train stations, rather being idle, being a opportunity gap to recreate innovative environments that encourages human interaction, whilst allowing these interactions to be maintained over time. Thus, this project is sited at an example site at Ascot vale station, with a redesigned waiting platform, that mimics the dynamism and movement of trains. In these curves and twists are nodes of activity that holds various activity suited to the duration of one’s waiting time. Steel hollow section holds up intertwined ramps, allowing interaction to occur within and between levels. Safety netting allows social interactions to be seen from afar, allowing the urban infrastructure to be a new iconic gathering point for the local neighborhood.
